Raccoon City is an archetypical industrial and commercial mid-western American city. The economy of Raccoon City is largely dominated by the Umbrella Corporation. The corporation generously financed most of the city's projects, giving the company a positive image to the people of Raccoon City. At least 30% of the citizens are also employed by the international corporation, most are unaware of the company's many illegal activities. The city is surrounded by lush forests, as well as the Arklay Mountains.
